We will hold our annual
NATA membership meeting during EAA's AirVenture, the largest annual gathering of aviation enthusiasts. This year we will also celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Texan! (Read the
NATA press release here.)
NATA activities include:
All week: T-6/SNJ/HVD static display (bring your aircraft whether you fly formation or not)
Happy Hour: Camaraderie and refreshments every day at NATA HQ (directions below, new tent in 2018!)
Sunday: T-6 Mass arrival from Dubuque, plus other warbird arrivals. Todd Winemiller will coordinate T-6 arrivals. There is a FREE warbird picnic at 6pm in the Nature Center Pavillion (near the museum). All warbird pilots are invited to this annual event.
Monday: T-28 mass formation arrival during warbird air show. (Reposition T-6 aircraft for big
80 formation to Warbird Alley — details announced at DBQ)
Tuesday 10am:
Warbirds in Review will feature NATA members and their Texans, with historically accurate displays of a Canadian Harvard, a Navy SNJ-5C, a USAAF AT-6, and a modern USAF T-6 Texan II. Pilots who flew these aircraft in military service will tell their stories, moderated by David Hartman (of Good Morning America fame and a friend to all Warbirds). Please plan to attend this event, hosted by EAA Warbirds of America (WOA) and sponsored by NATA.
Tuesday Air Show: NATA will celebrate the 80th Anniversary of the Texan during the warbird portion of the air show. The celebration will showcase the T-6 Texan and all NATA aircraft types. The program will include a 28-ship, T-6 big
80 formation
, as well as formations of T-28s, P-51s, and B-25s. If you wish to participate in one of these elements, contact the element flight leader:
- T-6 big 80 formation - Todd Winemiller & Don Stamp
- T-6 formations in trail - Todd Winemiller
- P-51 flight - Scooter Yoak
- T-28 flight - Doug Hulse
Wednesday: Warbird Fly-Out to Central Wisconsin Airport (CWA), 67 miles NW of OSH. WOA is organizing this event, which is open to all NATA members. Flight will tentatively depart at 0830 and return 1300 (before the airspace closes for the air show). Food and discounted fuel will be provided. NATA Formations are NOT flying in the airshow on Wednesday, so plan to join this Fly-Out and have some fun!
Thursday am: Safety forums (locations and times to be announced)
Thursday 1-3pm: Annual Membership Meeting at Warbirds Briefing Building. Agenda will include election of NATA directors. Free lunch for members, plus a chance to win several door prizes
1,
including a Grand Prize valued at more than $3,800:
Stratus ESG by Appareo (ADS-B 2020 mandate compliant). The lunch is free for members; nominal fee collected at the door for non-members (cash only).
Friday Air Show: WOA has asked us to perform the Anniversary show again on Friday! If you are planning to fly in the 28-ship, T-6
80 formation, we really need you to stay at OSH until the Friday airshow is complete. Todd Winemiller and Don Stamp will determine whether we have sufficient qualified pilots to fly the
80; else we will simply fly a Big Wing. Please plan to stay for Friday's Airshow - NATA and WOA need your support!
